This is the pitch that I gave of my House Styles, i.e. my proposal, my masthead design, my front cover layout, my contents page layout, and my DPS layout.
This is the Prezi that I used in my pitch:
House Styles Pitch on Prezi
I received some audience feedback for my pitch, and some audience feedback through a survey on Survey Monkey:
I asked my audience if my name, Ps23 was an appropriate name for a CCM magazine, and 100% of the people who answered my survey said that it was. However, when I gave my pitch to my class, I was asked whether this name was excluding non-Christians from reading the magazine. However, I disagree with this; my magazine, while appealing to listeners of CCM, does not exclude readers of other faiths, or no faith at all. The name alone does appeal to Christians, but the front cover should have enough features on it for people to know that it is a Christian music magazine.
I also asked what the audience's thoughts were of the front cover. I was told that it was contemporary, which reflects the genre of contemporary Christian music thus differing it from the more traditional styles of worship, and that the layout in general was good and creative. However, I was also told that the front cover appeals to the older members of my target audience, but that it was not colourful enough to appeal to the younger members. When I gave my pitch, I was also told that my age range was too large. While in that instance, I explained that I wanted the entire joined festival of Soul Survivor and Momentum reading my magazine, based on this feedback I will change my target audience and aim for an older audience.
I also asked my audience about the layout of my contents page. I received positive feedback for using the categories for different topics (regulars, features, etc.) which was also the case for my Preliminary Task; I was told that these categories made the contents page clearer and easier to understand. I was also told that the colours were good, and it was organised and clear. However, I was told that the shade of green that I had used was a problem, therefore I think when I redraft my House Styles, I will use a deeper shade of green.
One of the purposes of my questionnaire was to help me decide which regulars and features to have photos of. The most popular regular which my audience thought should have an image to complement it was News from the Ps23 office, therefore I think this is one regular which I think I will try and get a photo of. However, the features that were selected as the most popular in this question (Your Christmas playlist and The Olympic Effect) are the most difficult to take a photo of. Therefore, while my audience think that I should take photos of these features, I think I will have to take photos of the other two, as these photos will be easier to take.
I also asked my audience what they thought about the layout of my DPS. They said that it was good and clear to read. However, they said that there should be more images, therefore I think I should add spaces for more images on my DPS. Also, that the titles should be underlined, but I think that the differences in format (titles bold/italic/etc.) will mean that they won't need to be underlined.
From my pitch, I was also told that my idea was good; it was rare and therefore it was good to have something different.
